What is an ANPR CCTV camera?

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) is a technology that is widely used to help detect, deter and disrupt crime and unauthorised access to properties or restricted areas. These systems are often used by Police and other law enforcement agencies. They are often found to be useful for allowing and disallowing access when used in conjuction with a barrier or other access control systems.

As a vehicle passes and ANPR CCTV camera, the number plate is identified and instantly checked againest database records. Police and other law enforcements use this to check vehicles are currently 'vehicles of interest'.
